Although the PowerSchool shut down prevented some students at Mira Costa from checking their schedules, overall, this online grading system is effective, easily accessible, and the best system for Mira Costa High School.
PowerSchool is an online grading system that Mira Costa has been using since the 2014- 2015 school year. According to PowerSchool Hosting Operations, the system experienced a forced shut-down on Thursday, August 28th due to a breakdown in the cooling center.
PowerSchool allows students to view their grades wherever they have internet, and with full internet access at school, it is helpful and very efficient. Also, parents can view their children’s grades and discuss their classes with them, which creates a priceless scholastic bond between a child and their parent.
Additional to the accessible website, students are also able to view their grades as soon as they are imputed, making it trouble-free for students. This website is also an app for both students and parents, which is helpful for those who have smartphones.
According to Superintendent, Michael Matthews, improvements are made to PowerSchool every year. This grading program is reliable and is the best system because even though there were minor problems, students are still able to access it with few issues.
According to Matthews, PowerSchool is the system that a group of administrators, teachers, staff and counselors recommended after reviewing many different providers. This program revolves around both students and adults, building a stronger learning foundation.
PowerSchool is the optimal website for Costa students because every student, parent, and teacher uses it. A problem with the program may be reported faster when more people notice it, allowing the issue to be fixed faster.
According to Shannon Vaughan, English teacher at Mira Costa, PowerSchool is a good form of communication between her students and their parents. This bond enhances student’s learning experience and helps teachers reach out to them.
Vaughan prefers using an online grading website rather than written grades and only had problems taking attendance and accessing student’s grades when PowerSchool shut down. This website is helpful because it does not cause many roadblocks in teacher’s ways.
The PowerSchool website is accessible from any computer or smartphone. Due to the internet on campus, Costa students have a great opportunity to check their grades during school and talk about them with their teachers, which is another advantage.
Overall, PowerSchool is helpful to students and is the best grading system for Mira Costa High School. With the accessible website and apps, schedules, and scholastic bonding between students, parents, and teachers, PowerSchool accommodates everyone.
