Costa’s Associated Student Body hosted the first UCLA blood drive of the year in the Fisher Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Over 200 donors volunteered to give blood. Participants had to be at least 16 years old, weigh 110 pounds and have normal iron levels. ASB members checked participants in and wrapped their arms following their blood draws. The UCLA Blood and Platelet Center supplied nurses and the necessary equipment for drawing blood safely.
“A lot of kids decided to donate this year which was really great to see,” ASB Commissioner of Community Relations Hanna Enomoto said. “ASB and UCLA both worked really hard to make sure this event went smoothly and I think it paid off.”
