On Thursday, September 26th, the Mira Costa Hall of Fame assembly showcased remarkable alumni, with students introducing each honoree.
Students Eva Asiddao, Isaac Faynsod, Aviva Flechner, Carolina Hodgeon, and Hudson Sagadevan each played a pivotal role in honoring the Hall of Fame inductees. They presented heartfelt introductions, illustrating the impressive journeys and accomplishments of these influential alumni. Each introduction not only highlighted individual achievements, but also emphasized the lasting impact these graduates have made on their community.
“It was an honor to be able to introduce the alumni,” said Sagadevan. “I believe their accomplishments are truly remarkable and may inspire future generations to follow in their footsteps.”
Sagadevan began by introducing Eileen Shea Davis, a Class of 2010 graduate. He detailed her extraordinary path from Mira Costa student, to becoming a Naval Aviator, underscoring her dedication and bravery. Davis’s service was shown in her roles, where she flew missions in the MH-60S Seahawk helicopter.
Flechner introduced Joe Marcy, a Class of 2003 graduate and Senior Business Development Executive at See Monterey, illuminating his contributions to diversity, sustainability, and tourism. “This was meaningful to me as it was a great opportunity to meet new people who have made a significant impact on our community and beyond,” shared Flechner.
Fletcher highlighted Marcy’s leadership roles, including his work on the US Council of Meeting Professionals International’s Global Board of Trustees. She praised his commitment to mentoring students and promoting inclusive initiatives within the community, showcasing the spirit of service that Mira Costa instills in its graduates. Each student was introduced with intent and meaning.
Faynsod introduced Steve Napolitano saying, “I made an effort to focus on his longstanding commitment to public service, legal expertise, and community ties It was a privilege to recognize Mr. Napolitano’s vast impact on the community, and I believe it was inspiring to much of the student body who came to celebrate”
With Issac’s experience as the student body president, he handled introducing the alumni with care. He recognized all of the key points of Steve Napolitano’s life, making everyone curious and intrigued by his heroism. Not only were all of the student introducers talented but they were also very well prepared.
Hodegeon introduced David Morris sharing, “Morrison was a highly accomplished physicist, and highlighted the significance of his career and contributions. By having students introduce the alumni and interacting with them before and after the assemblies, we were able to have better connections with the alumni and thus better honor them as students and as a school.”
