Mira Costa welcomed 8th grade students and parents at “This is Costa” night on October 16th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m at Waller Stadium. Principal Huynh and current Costa students provided an overview of life at Costa and an opportunity to learn about over 50 of the organizations and activities Costa has to offer.
The event, planned by the MBX Foundation, began with a presentation from principal Dr. Huyhn and current Costa students, who gave an introduction as to what Costa’s like. Performances from Costa’s band, choir, cheer, and dance teams followed.
“This event is helpful to incoming freshmen because it shows them the different sports, activities, and organizations that we have to offer at school.”, said 10th grade vice principal, Ms. Price.
Attendees were then invited to walk around the track, where booths consisting of clubs, sports, electives, and foreign language programs were set up. Representatives from each program ran these booths and answered questions from incoming Costa students and parents.
“My favorite part of the event was the student speakers because I love hearing what they had to share about their experience at Costa, the things they’ve been involved with, and just giving the incoming freshmen advice.”, said Ms. Price.
