Boys lacrosse defeated the Palisades during their Home opener on Tuesday at the Waller Stadium, with an ending score of 20-7. After finish- ing 4th in the Southern Section last season, the Mustangs took the field ready to fight and looking to start their season on the right foot.
“We were super pumped that we were able to secure the win at our home opener,” senior midfielder Dylan Fenton said. “As a senior this season I’m really looking forward to making the most out of each home game and hope we can make it all the way to the CIF Championship for two years in a row.”
In the first quarter the Mustangs quickly asserted dominance and took the lead. Senior attacker Nick Marsh took charge and scored the first two goals of the game, a momentum they maintained throughout the game.
“We quickly learned how their defense functioned,” Marsh said. “Once the offense communicated on that, we were able to make some great plays.”
Going into halftime the Mustangs were leading 13-4, and even though the Palisades team put up a tough battle, it wasn’t enough to stop the Mustangs. Costa had two players score three or more goals in this game alone, and the defense was working all night to make sure the Mustangs came out on top.
“Palisades was a tough team, they fought really hard throughout the entire game,” senior defender Dash Seiffer said. “However, I knew as soon as we got in the groove it would be hard to slow the offense and defense down.”
