Faynsod hosts Senior Assassin game

Seniors are getting their goggles ready as Costa’s Senior Assassin tradition begins next month. Senior Assassin is a competitive, but friendly, game where seniors partner up, are assigned a target, and spray them with water guns until only one team is standing, earning a money prize for the winning team.

Senior and ASB president, Issac Faynsod, is in charge of managing the games. According to Faynsod, he organizes the rules, sign-up form, and Instagram account.

“It has typically been tradition for the ASB president to take on the role every year,” Faynsod said. “With all of my college apps in, I find myself twitching to do something constantly.”

Faynsod informed Costa seniors about the game through the 2025 Costa Senior Assassin Instagram account. Students can enter the game through a simple google form and $5 payment in cash to Faynsod.

“Signing up was super easy and the account is very well organized by Issac,” senior Jaxon Stroyke said. “I cannot wait to create memories and just have a great time with my friends.”

Around 400 seniors participate in the Senior Assassin tradition, and the competition typically lasts until the end of the school year. The final winner for 2024’s senior assassin was determined in June of this past year.

“A total of 189 teams have entered so far, though I am expecting over 200 teams to enter before the starting date,” said Faynsod.

Players record each water gun elimination on video and post them on the Instagram for all to enjoy. All teams must also share their locations with all players on Snapchat, so players can see where their targets are throughout the day.

“I think it’s a great idea that we can all use Snapchat to see the players’ locations,” senior Abby Slusser said. “I think it makes the game even more fun and competitive.”

Many Costa students think very highly of the game and the competitive aspects that come with it. It is something that bonds all seniors closer to each other.

“[Senior Assassin] strengthens friendships among the senior class until your friend inevitably turns on you and ‘assassinates’ you,” said Faynsod.

According to Faynsod, the Senior Assassin targets will be sent to all players over the ski week and will officially begin on Feb 18.

“I am so excited to start Senior Assassin,” senior Lauren Becker said. “I have been looking forward to it since I was a freshman when I saw seniors running with their goggles and water guns. I think it’s going to be an amazing experience and I’m so happy that Costa does it.”
