The city of Manhattan Beach hosted its 34th-annual pier lighting ceremony on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. to commence the holiday season.
MBMS and Costa choir both sang at the event and at 7 p.m., the pier was illuminated. There was also a holiday open house where various stores located in downtown Manhattan Beach stayed open until 9 p.m. to host shoppers and give food samples. Throughout the night, various carolers strolled down Highland and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
“I always look forward to pier lighting,” said senior Maddie Johnson. “It’s a great way to start the holiday season and gets me excited for all the festivities.”
