Unnecessary Increase in Valgrams Price

This year, the price of Valgrams at Mira Costa High School has gone up by $2. The choir-singing and orchestra-playing telegrams have been an ongoing Valentine’s Day tradition, so the price raise has some people questioning if it’s really fair.

“I don’t really understand why they raised the price,” said Sophomore Lua Rocha, “I normally buy a lot too, so it was just a little confusing.”

Many students like the concept of sending Valgrams, but the added cost has them reconsidering whether it’s worth it. With no specific explanation for the increase, some wonder if it was even necessary.

“Although I was able to buy a couple, I could only buy the orchestra ones because they were cheaper,” said Rocha, “but it would have been better if I could have bought the choir ones.”

Despite the price change, Valgrams remain a popular part of Valentine’s Day at Costa. The tradition still brings excitement to the classrooms, ensuring the holiday spirit is celebrated throughout the school.

”Throughout my classes I really only ever saw orchestra, never really choir,” said Sophomore Keeley Maloney, “I loved the choir ones last year so I was kind of disappointed.”
