On September 6, Mira Costa High School’s Cross Country Team beat the heat in their second meet of the season called the Cool Breeze Invitational at the Brookside Country Club, in Pasadena. The JV girls were the first to race, resulting in a victory led by senior Ella Scalabrini, who finished third out of 190 runners. The Mustangs played in the second annual, Point Loma Tennis International at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. The girls came in third overall out of 15 teams. Mira Costa Girls Golf improved immensely in their rematch against Diamond Bar High School on Thursday, Sept. 26. Coach Tom Cox purposely placed them against really good teams for their non-league matches to prepare them for when the league starts. The Mustangs went up against Diamond Bar High School at the Diamond Bar Golf Course with a course score of par 36. Costa scored 216 against Diamond Bar’s score of 201. […]
Mira Costa boys water polo got drowned by Palos Verdes High School, 13-8 at home on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The Mustangs gave Palos Verdes the lead from the beginning, playing poorly in the first quarter. As the game progressed they started to get into a groove, but their sloppy plays cost them the game. The Mira Costa Cross Country Team attended the Woodbridge Meet on Saturday, September 21st. Different strong and competitive teams competed in the meet, as it was an invitational meet. The Mira Costa Cross Country Team ran toward the finish line, and placed highly at the Masters University Invite Meet on Saturday, Sep. 28th. Boys Varsity came in 1st as a team, and were led by senior Thomas Velvin who came in 3rd overall. Other strong runners also contributed to the win, with senior Cormac Carew coming in 6th place, senior Alex Fiorito in 9th, and sophomore Seamus O’Meara in 18th. […]
