In the first Bay League game of the season, the Mira Costa girls varsity basketball team lost 41-34 against West Torrance High School on Jan. 8.
The girls started off strong, keeping close behind West’s lead of 9-7 at the end of the first quarter. Junior Camille Mills scored fifteen points for the mustangs and sophomore Keilani Ikehara helped the team with eight points.
“It wasn’t our best game but I’m still proud of how our team never lost energy,” Ikehara said. “We made of lot of important rebounds but we need to make our free throws more consistent.”
The girls will play at home against rival Redondo Union High School on Jan 11 at 6:00 p.m.
