The boys varsity soccer team played their first bay league game on Tuesday, Jan.9 against West Torrance and lost 2-1 in overtime.
No goals were scored in the first half; however, both teams scored in the second half of regulation time. Junior Brandon Tsuha scored on a free kick outside the 18 yard box. With the score tied 1-1, the game was forced into overtime and in the second 5 minute half, West Torrance scored a goal and Costa was not able to tie it back up.m West Torrance then won the game with a score of 1-2.
“It was hard to start out the season with a loss in overtime like that,” senior captain Grant Southwood said. “Hopefully we will be able to step up on friday to beat Redondo.”
The boys Bay League record is 0-1-0. The Mustangs next game will be on January 11 at 6:00 p.m. against Redondo High School at home.
