On Sept. 15, the Mira Costa Mustangs came back from a win over Brentwood to beat Pacific Palisades at Mira Costa. This win continues their undefeated season and brings their record to 2-0.
After five of their six matches, the girls tennis team continued its winning streak and finished the day with a 13-5 win over the Palisades. Again, senior Taylor Mahr and sophomore Maegan Manasse led the way for Costa, each winning three matches. Mahr won her three matches 6-0, 6-1, and 6-1. Manasse shut down the opponent with three 6-0 finishes. The sophomore has yet to lose a game this season, proving crucial to the team’s success.
The doubles team of senior Laura Derian and sophomore Hanna McGuire won all three of their matches with scores 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2. The senior-sophomore tandem is followed by a strong junior-sophomore pair of junior Erin Murphy and sophomore Ava Klein. Murphy and Klein won both of their matches, 6-2.
The Mustangs will play again Sept. 16 at Beverly Hills High School. On the road for the first time, Mira Costa seeks to continue their undefeated season.
