The Mustangs girls tennis team continued its early-season success Sept. 16 with a win at Beverly Hills High School. The road match was their first of the season, extending the girls overall record to 3-0.
The girls went with the motto, “don’t fix what ain’t broken,” Thursday, using the same singles and doubles partners used so far in the previous two matches. The girls conquered Beverly Hills with an efficient and decisive 13-5 victory.
For the Mustangs, sophomore Maegan Manasse and senior Taylor Mahr continued their repeated dominance, winning every match they played on Thursday. Manasse won all three matches 6-0 for a third consecutive day, and the young sophomore has still yet to lose a single point in any of her matches played thus far. Mahr matched Manasse’s performance with three match wins of 6-0. These two raw talents are playing large roles in the team’s wins, playing seemingly unstoppable tennis.
Sophomore Hanna McGuire and senior Laura Derian won both of their matches, 6-2 and 6-3, leading their team to a big victory. Seniors Sara Derian and Alex Vand won their matches, 6-2 and 6-3, both playing key parts in Thursday’s win over Beverly Hills.
The Mustangs will get a break after their quick start to the season, as they will play their next match on Monday, September 20 at home against Mater Dei High School at 3:15 p.m. The girls will look to keep their hot streak rolling into their matches next week.
