Finally after 2 years The band “The Weeknd”, released first major, full length album recently on September 10, 2013. The new album is called “Kiss land.” It is the first complete album since 2011’s mixtape “Echo of silence.”
“Kiss Land,” a very recent album by “The Weeknd” represents “The Weeknds'” existential lasciviousness in their records. Although this album is nothing revolutionary, it has a more colorful and frenetic and less controlled presentation to it.
The founder of “The Weeknd” is Abel Tesfaye, the leader singer of the band recorder who is a Candian artist and record producer. His career officially began when he uploaded a couple of songs to YouTube in 2010.
In 2011, he released his first official mixtape “Thursday.” Tesfaye quickly gained publicity after and released his next mixtape, “Echoes of Silence.”
“The Weekend” hasn’t had released any official albums since “Trilogy” which was an imcompilation album, until they started working on “Kiss Land” in the past year and it was finally released about 10 days ago which has made their fans really excited.
The band “The Weekend,” itself isn’t particularly that exciting but the release of the new album sure is. Specially since it is their first official album release.
Th album was published by XO and Repiblic Records. It’s sole guest appearance comes from Drake. “Kiss Lands'” release date was pushed back three times.
According to Tesfaye, “Kiss Land” is supposed to symbolize the tour life. It is based on an imaganery place that does not actually exist; it’s an environment that I just pure fear, similar to a horror movie.
“Kiss Land” is supposed to be sinister. This album is “The Weeknds'” first non-mixtape release which automotically brings a lot more attention to them than before.
“Kiss Land” provides an electric soundtrack. Tesfaye tells a story through “Kiss Lands'” lyrics and brings sort of a darker and erotic content out.
The lyrics to those album are all very meaningful and deep. And even though at first they could seem a little dirty, but there’s still a deep meaning to it. And that’s what makes the album so special.
Overall “Kiss Land” definitely is worth listening to Tesfayes offers a lot. Considering Tesfayes’ richly hypnotic, melodic voice and the amazing lyrics makes the album worth it’s price.
“Kiss Land” is available on iTunes, spotify, and every music/CD/DVD store.
