The girls tennis team defeated Northwood High School, 10-8 on Nov. 8 in the second round of CIF playoffs.
In singles, Costa won all their matches. Junior Brooke Swallow won both her matches 6-4. Freshman Amy Gaal won two sets 6-1 and 6-3, and junior Taylor Klein won, 6-3 and 6-4.
“We were all playing our best, us and our opponents, and as a team we found a way to win,” Klein said.
The Mustangs were also successful in doubles. Senior Paula Cenusa with junior Mai Nojima won their first set 6-2, but due to an injury, Cenusa was unable to play in the second match. Doubles team of freshmen Isabella and Katarina Draskovic won all three of their matches.
“The team we played was really strong and we fought are hardest to win as many games as possible,” Katerina said. “We also have great team spirit and we all are like a big family. Its really nice to have such great support from our teammates.”
The girls play in their third round of CIFs on Monday away against Campbell Hall School.
