The boys basketball team defeated West Torrance High School 68-54 on Tuesday in the first Bay League game of the season, giving them a 1-0 record and 15-2 overall.
Senior forward Justin Strings led the team, scoring 34 points with one 3-point shot throughout the game. Senior guard Chase Crandall scored 10 points with two 3-point shots and junior point guard Dylan Kim assisted in the Mustangs victory with nine points.
“It was a necessary win because the boys want to have fun on Friday against Redondo but that wouldn’t be possible if we lost this game,” coach Jeff Amaral said. “The boys did a great job on staying focused in each play and now we can take on Redondo with this big win.”
The boys face Redondo Union High School away tomorrow at 7:30pm.
