A top-rated movie has to be accompanied by an equally amazing selection of music. The long-awaited “Catching Fire” not only has unbelievable reviews on its cinematic production but also has an equally awesome soundtrack.

Having a very diverse group of musicians, the “Catching Fire” soundtrack brought different musical stylings together in order to create a great sounding album that fits perfectly with the movie. Adding different genres throughout the album, this soundtrack is genuinely unique and pleasing to all music-lovers.

Versatility and interesting sounds are added within the soundtrack. Having a different singer for each song, the album isn’t boring and stays entertaining until the very end.

This soundtrack features an eclectic group of singers including Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Sia, The National, Christina Aguilera,The Weeknd, Imagine Dragons, Lorde, The Lumineers, Ellie Goulding, Patti Smith, Santigold, Miki Ekko, Phantogram, and Antony and the Johnsons.

The abundance of different genres makes the soundtrack both exciting and interesting. Genres from pop to indie rock are  featured on the album which accommodates to a wider variety of listeners.

To make the soundtrack even more unique, many of the songs are named after ideas and characters featured in the movie such as Gale Song by The Lumineers. This particular song captures the way Gale is portrayed  in the movie. “I was 10,000 miles away” and “This loneliness won’t last for long” are some of the lyrics sung in the song showing Gale’s relationship with Katniss Everdeen.

An incredible song that stood out was We Remain performed by Christina Aguilera. Keeping her R&B vocals and catchy lyrics, Aguilera changed the intensity in her voice that made the song powerful and beautiful.

Not only did the album show versatility, it shares a great amount of talent from one song to the next. Each singer makes the song very unique by adding their particular style and contributing to the album.

Singer and songwriter Lorde’s voice was easily recognizable in her song Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Her familiar style of music is incorporated within the song where the beat is danceable and the lyrics are incredibly catchy.

Another factor that helps makes this album amazing is the fact that the lyrics coincide with the movie; more importantly, the books. Fans of the best-selling series are pleased with the song’s contribution to many ideas familiar in the storyline.

Something that made the album underwhelming was the way the songs were distributed in the soundtrack. The most popular bands such as Coldplay and Of Monster and Men were featured first on the album. However songs sung by none-familiar bands such as Mikki Ekko and Phantogram were featured toward the end of the soundtrack.

New bands and singers have surprisingly great songs. One in particular, Angel on Fire by Antony and the Johnsons, did an amazing job incorporating an orchestra in the song that made it calming and a great way to end the album.

Overall, The “Catching Fire” soundtrack had a great selection of artists and an array of different sounds that combined together to make a unique and amazing album.

The Catching Fire soundtrack is available in retail and on iTunes for $14.99.
