Saturday Sept 27 the Mira Costa boys water polo team kept on competing in the final day of the America’s Finest City Invitational water polo Tournament. Mira Costa competed against Cerritos High School, Los Osos High school and Cathedral Catholic High School. The Costa boys were able to finish strong with only one loss during the entire tournament.
Costa Played Cerritos in a brutal battle to the Semi-finals, however Costa was able to come out on top with a score of 13-7. In the semi finals the boys were also able to fight a physical battle for the win over Los Osos High School, the score was a close 11-10 which led them to the finals. The final game was against Cathedral Catholic High School, who Costa previously lost their first game of the season to. Although Costa was not able to grasp a tournament win, they played very well as a team, many people had great performances during the tournament including Brandon Lavinsky, Andrew Todd, Jake Tolt, Chase Williams, and Nick Dale who was awarded with the Most Valuable Goalie award for his great playing during the tournament.
“ I think we played great during this tournament, we really got a chance to build more team chemistry which is something we really needed as a team.” said Dylan Linnell, “ Although there is a lot more we need to work on I think when it comes time for CIF games we will certainly be playing our best.”
