The boys wrestling team dominated in two tournaments Saturday in Laguna Hills and Carson.
The Mustangs swept the competition in the Carson Tournament. Freshman Luca Mangiarano took first in the lightweight division; sophomore Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani won in the middleweight division; and junior Niilo Niemi dominated in the heavyweight division.
“Our coach took a team without seniors to Carson to see where we would be next year,” Lebosnoyani said. “We won the entire thing, so I think that speaks for itself.”
The seniors attended the Laguna Hills tournament where senior Miles Gillam placed second in the middleweight division, and senior Jimmy Millea took first in the heavyweight divion.
“I’m happy with the way we performed this weekend,” Gilliam said.
The boys had a match at home on Thursday against Beverly Hills, but scores were unavailable due to the time of production.
“Not only is this our year, but we have the potential to win CIF next year,” Lebosnoyani said.
