The Mira Costa girls soccer team made it to the quarterfinals of California Interscholastic Federation, where it lost in penalty kicks to Santiago High School, 4-3, on Feb. 26.
“This was a tough game, and we were not able to pull it off,” senior center midfielder Gillian Henry said. “I am proud of the girls.”
In the first round of CIF on Feb. 19, Costa won, 2-1, against La Habra High School. The girls played against Chaparral on Feb. 24 in the round of 16, and won with an overtime goal by sophomore Delaney Whittet. They ended their season with a record of 21-6-4.
“I am sad that our season has ended,” senior forward McKenna Doyle said. “I have had the best time playing with these girls my past four years. I will miss these girls, but I will never forget them and the friendships I’ve had with them.”
