The Mustangs had their first shutout of the season, winning 21-0 on Tuesday at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club. All the players won all their games, without letting Mayfield or Loyola get any momentum by scoring points.

The Mustangs had a contribution from every player, especially from usual top performer Sam Schwartz and Shirleen Chen. They all won their game, and according to coach David Levin gained a lot of confidence going into CIF Playoffs next week. The team plays Cypress in the first round on Monday, time and location to be announced.

“The confidence we gained from this is outstanding and immeasurable. The win we got today can supply us with momentum going into the first round. We just need to take it one game at a time,” Levin said.

The team plays Cypress on Monday in the first round of the CIF playoffs. It is expected to be its toughest game of the season. According to Levin, several stand out players that have been wild cards this year are the reason they might have trouble this coming Monday.

“We need to be on our toes and ready to play anyone that comes our way. That’s also a key part to winning, adjusting to what lies ahead and moving from there,” Levin said.
