The Mustangs varsity volleyball played the Costa alumni in scrimmage on Friday winning, 3-2. The Mustangs won the first two games 25-18 and 25-10. However the alumni would not go down without a fight.
The alumni bounced back winning the following matches, winning 25-23 and 25-21. In the final game the Mustangs won,15-11. Junior opposite Jackson Wedbush and senior middle Carter Kimble had a combined total of 16 kills.
“It was really neat to be able to come out and play these veterans,” junior libero Sam Jones said. “It was a lot of fun and a nice break from the seriousness of league.”
The Mustangs’ (8-0 in Bay League) and next game will be on Tuesday at home against Redondo. Having already beat the Redondo (4-3 in Bay League) earlier in the season, 3-0, Costa hopes to swept the SeaHawks again.
“We swept them earlier in the seasons with relative ease,” Wedbush. “We need to make sure to play together and focus on defense.”
