Mira Costa’s hockey game suffered its second loss of the season against El Segundo on Tuesday with a final score of 3-2 at the Toyota Sports Center.
During the first two periods of the game, El Segundo got ahead with the first goal. In the last period, senior Kai Borich and senior Christian Rogers scored, putting Costa ahead briefly. The Eagles came responded with two more goals, ultimately beating the Mustangs by one.
“We had a slow first period,” Rogers said. “I don’t think we came out as prepared as we needed to be, but the last two periods we couldn’t find a way to put the pucks in the net. We could have come out stronger and more focused.”
The Mustangs take on Beverly Hills for the first round of playoffs on Monday at 6:30 p.m. If Costa wins the game, they play again on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
“The past games have been leading us up to the playoffs,” Coach Oystrick said. “All of our hard work from the season will hopefully pay off.”
