Attractive women, fancy cars, and big guns sounds like an aggregate for success however Anne Fletcher’s “Hot Pursuit” fails miserably
Directed by Anne Fletcher, “Hot Pursuit” boasts an appealing yet disinterested cast, bland dialogue, and an immature plot resulting in a sense of ameturity.
“Hot Pursuit” follows Daniella Riva (Sophia Vergara), the wife of an influential Drug Cartel, and her police escort, Miss Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) as they are chased through texas by crooked cops and drunk mobsters.
Despite the appealing cast, “Hot Pursuit” is riddled with unemotional and unapealing acting as it is clear that the actors are not enjoying their roles and their casual disregard for anything important throughout the film demonstrates the sense of disinterest that is ultimately the cause of the films failure
In addition to the one dimensional characters that for the cast is the banal and stagnant dialogue that is sprinkled throughout the film. Several scenes between Daniella and Cooper are plagued with the fake and boring conversation that results in a lack of connection between viewers.
While the generic plot idea is also a hindrance to the flms success, it was mainly the lack of any plot twists or surprises playing off of the disinterest among the actors that led the film down the path to failure.
Ultimately due to the combination of a stagnant plot and disinterested actors, “Hot Pursuit” fails as a quality film. The lack of depth of charachters and generic and cliched scenes hinder the films sucess as well.
“Hot Pursuit” is rated R and is playing in theaters Nationwide.
