Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team won the first game of the season, 3-0, against Edison at Costa Tuesday with top performances by junior setter and right side Britt Bommer.
In the first game, the Mustangs defeated Edison, 25-18 and carried the momentum into the second game, winning 25-20. In the third game, Costa brought home the win with a score of 25-15, ending the match 3-0.
“I think tonight we were still working out the finite details of our playing,” Bommer said. “We were still getting used to each other’s playing styles and getting used to playing people other than the rest of our team in practice I think we did pretty well tonight, but we could always work to get better and more efficient.”
With a current overall record of 1-0, the Mustangs take on the Marymount Sailors at 5:15 on Thursday at Mira Costa. Marymount’s current record is 0-0 and play its first game Wednesday.
“I expect for us to gain confidence and start to be more aggressive on offense and defense,” Bommer said. “There’ll be more of a focus on taking control of the game early on and finishing strong.”
