In the second match of the year, the Mira Costa Varsity Girls Golf team (2-0) beat Santa Monica at Chester Washington Golf Course. The final score was 201-277.
The Mustangs kept the lead against Santa Monica in the back nine holes by 76 strokes. Junior Lexi Nielsen helped the Mustangs gain an early lead by getting a hole-in-one on the second hole.
“I’ve always wanted a hole in one, and finally got it,” Nielsen said. “I’m happy that I got it during the first home match and was with my team to celebrate.”
The Mustangs play their next game tomorrow against Santa Monica at Santa Penmar. After just beating Santa Monica, Costa hopes to get another win against Santa Monica tomorrow.
“Our team is really good,” senior Briana Andrade said. “I have complete confidence that our team does what’s expected of them.”
