Mira Costa High School senior Emily Espinosa has been missing since July 22, and her current whereabouts remain unknown.

Espinosa is 16 years old, 5’7’’ and Caucasian. She has short brown hair and hazel eyes, and she weighs 115 pounds, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department. Espinosa was last seen walking east toward Peck Avenue on July 22, after leaving MBX Summer School midway through the school day.

“I dropped off Emily at school that day and she walked in, but she was marked as not being there, so, obviously, she left.,” Espinosa’s mother, Krista Valdez, said. “At first, I believed she would be with her boyfriend,  but now I have no clue where else she could be.”

Redondo Beach Police Department detectives Jenna Wolfinger and Mark Velez are continuing to investigate the case. There have been no updates on Espinosa’s location since she was last seen leaving Costa.

“It’s scary, and it’s awful,” Mira Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale said. “Our role is to be a resource to the family when they need it and to cooperate with authorities.”

If anyone has any knowledge about Espinosa’s whereabouts, he or she can notify the RBPD at (310)-379-2477.

“We are just worried. At this point, it would just be nice if she called or if somebody called,” Valdez said. “We just want to hear from her and know that she is okay. That is our primary concern now; it has been too long for nobody to hear from her. Her sisters really miss her.”
