Mira Costa’s girls volleyball defeated Sacred Heart, 3-2, at an away game at Flintridge Sacred Heart last night with top performances by junior outside hitter Alexa Underwood.
Costa dominated the first set, 25-18, but lost the second set, 15-25. In the third game, Costa barely won, 25-22, and lost the fourth, 19-25. However, the Mustangs finished off strong, winning the fifth set 15-11.
“We ran a dynamic offense and had solid defense,” Underwood said. “We’re going to continue working hard in practice and hopefully come out stronger and faster for the rest of the season.”
The Mustangs have a current overall record of 12-2, and they will be attending the Edison tournament at Edison High School tomorrow.
“We had a lot more mental errors than we usually do, so that’s something we need to keep working on,” junior setter Britt Bommer said. “The upcoming tournament is a great opportunity for us to improve on what we need to work on.”
