The Mira Costa boys water polo team were defeated 11-8 this Friday against Foothill High School, the number three team in the division, in an away game, with top performances from senior attackers Finn Pardon and Jake Tolt.
The game remained close the entire way through, and Costa was able to keep the game tight due in part to a three goal performance from Pardon and two goals from Tolt, who has scored over 25 goals this season.
“We played a solid game today,” Pardon said. “We still have a lot to work on, but we showed that we can compete with one of the top teams in our division and I look forward to playing them again in California Interscholastic Federation.”
The Mustangs record fell to 7-3 overall, but they still maintain their undefeated Bay League record of 2-0. They are playing in their third league match on Thursday against Redondo, who is 3-4 overall.
“It should definitely be a good game,” Tolt said, “We will be able to see where we have grown since our last couple of games.”
