Without Steve Jobs most of the world’s technology wouldn’t exist and the film “Steve Jobs” shows the incredible moments that started his career.
The film’s well known Hollywood actors enhance its quality due to their tremendous acting. Despite this, much of the film is composed of repetitious and slow-paced scenes that don’t add anything important to the film, lowering its quality.
“Steve Jobs,” directed by Danny Boyle, portrays Jobs early career and how he worked his way up to be the CEO of Apple. The film takes place during 1984 and1998. In 1984 and 1988 Steve Jobs (Michael Fassbender) released two new products he thought would change the world, but they were unsuccessful. In 1998, Jobs released the iMac and this invention leads him to become the CEO of Apple.
Steve Wozniak (Seth Rogan) is the co-founder of Apple Inc. Jobs, became friends with Wozniak young age and worked together. Throughout the film, Joanna Hoffman (Kate Winslet) is always by his side. Joanna tries to teach Jobs how to handle situations because Jobs’ closed mind and selfish attitude cause him to almost lose his loved ones and friends on his way to success.
Steve Jobs changes drastically from beginning to end. In the beginning Jobs is rude and bossy but later he begins to start caring for his loved ones, especially his daughter Lisa. Fassbender’s acting is phenomenal and does a great representation of the real Steve Jobs.
Jobs and Wozniak create an excellent duo, their arguments keep the movie intriguing. Throughout the film, Jobs and Wozniak get into many heated fights, their acting is breathtaking but repetitious because their arguments are based on the same topic throughout the movie.
Unlike the repetitious storyline, Winslet’s acting is phenomenal during her many intense arguments with Jobs. The movie inches along until Winslet comes on screen bringing the movie back to life, with her energetic and positive attitude. Before the end, Joanna confesses her love for Jobs, bringing a light and happy vibe to the serious film.
At times the movie got very monotonous, some scenes added unnecessary time to the movie. For example, repetitious arguments between the same characters and about the same topics didn’t further the storyline and made the movie feel very long.
Overall, the movie contains spectacular acting by all characters and some intriguing arguments. These positive highlights of the movie enhance the quality, and make it worth sitting through the slow moving and repetitive scenes.
The movie “Steve Jobs” was released on October 9, 2015, and is rated R due to adult lang uage. The film can be seen at the Landmark Theatre and other theaters in Los Angeles for $13.50.
