Mira Costa’s girls volleyball destroyed the Inglewood Sentinels 3-0, never allowing them to score more than five points per set in a Bay League game on Tuesday at Inglewood High School.
The Mustangs dominated the first set 25-4, with saves by junior libero Claire Haber. The team continued the energy into the second set, winning 25-5, and brought home the win in the final set, 25-2.
“We played really well as a group,” sophomore libero and defensive specialist Kelli Barry said. “We all got a chance to play and Haber dug well as libero.”
Costa will next compete in the Tournament of Champions in Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday. The team is currently 23-4 overall and 4-1 in Bay League. According to sophomore setter Lily Snyder, the upcoming tournament is good preparation for California Scholastic Federation (CIF).
“The team excited for CIF,” Snyder said. “We have a great team and this tournament will be a great challenge to take on.”
