Girls golf competes in semi finals of CIF

Five girls selected from Mira Costa’s girls golf team competed in the semi-finals for California Interscholastic Federation(CIF) on Monday at River Ridge Golf Course. The Mustangs played as individuals with top performances from senior Andrea Lee with a score of 68, senior Marni Murez with a score of 74, junior Ashley Kim with a score of 74, senior Danielle Richman with a score of 81, senior Veronica Chen with a score of 82 all on a 72 par course.

Lee came in first for the individuals and is advancing on. She had the best score and shot a four under(68). Murez shot a two under(74), she is also advancing on. Kim also shot a two under(74) and is advancing on.

“I just tried to take it shot by shot,” Lee said. “I didn’t let the bad shots get to me and affect my playing.”

The Mustangs next play as a team in the CIF semi-finals next Monday at Los Serranos Country Club. The team is 12-0 for Bay League and overall the team is 16-5. According to Murez the girls hope to win and move on to the finals.

“As a team we feel confident that we will make it through and move on to the finals,” Murez said.
