Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang are back in action, in an all new film called “The Peanuts Movie.”
Overall, the movie is very adorable and creative. On screen the animations are a lot different from the original Charlie Brown series, but the movie still has the adorable factor that the original series is known for. The film also utilizes very humorous and sarcastic jokes, yet these jokes due are often repetitive throughout the movie.
The cartoon movie is directed by Steve Martino and written by Bryan Schultz, Craig Schultz, and Cornelius Uliano, and the music was chosen by Christopher Beck. It begins in the wintertime where the kids of Charlie Brown’s neighborhood are out playing and enjoying the winter weather. The kids receive an unexpected surprise when a new neighbor moves in on their street.
Charlie is very lonely and doesn’t have someone who listens to him besides his faithful friend Snoopy. He hopes that he can befriend the new girl and thinks of ways to try to impress her and get her attention.
Throughout the movie, Snoopy often has many funny and very imaginative dreams. These dreams are very different from the story, but make the film more entertaining and different because they are so imaginative. These scenes are enjoyable because they are totally different from the rest of the movie making it unique.
At times, the film is repetitive because many of the characters repeat lines over and over again. For example, Charlie Brown repeats his lines regarding the new girl multiple times throughout the film, he repeats how he will talk to the new girl. Sometimes the lines repeated aren’t exactly the same but mean the same thing, when he is talking about the new girl. This adds unnecessary time to the film.
The director and writers connect the sweet and memorable scenes from the old Charlie Brown series into the movie. The characters in “The Peanuts Movie” restate memorable lines and phrases, mentioned in situations from the old series, which gave the familiar feeling of the original series. This is good because it references back and makes connections to the old series.
The music of the film fits the movie perfectly. The songs chosen set the mood of each scene by making them either upbeat or depressing by using different types of music. Without the music, most of the scenes throughout the movie would be uninteresting, the music adds suspense when needed and makes the film more satisfying.
The movie is mysterious at times by not showing the new girls face in the beginning and also the identity of the new girl is kept a mystery for a long time during the movie makes the film mysterious. The new girl also doesn’t make an appearance until the end. Making the film more mysterious and intriguing.
Overall, the movie is very delightful and keeps the special moments from the original Charlie Brown series. The movie is a bit repetitive, but the adorable plot, marvelous animations, and splendid music make the movie a much see.
The movie was released on November 6. The film is rated G and can be seen in theaters.
