The Hermosa Beach City School District Board of Trustees hosted its third envisioning workshop on Jan. 7 in order to receive input from the community regarding the issues of overcrowding in the schools and the lack of modern technology in its schools.
During the workshop, HBCSD welcomed community members to make comments about what they see to be district-wide issues regarding overcrowding and technology. According to HBCSD Superintendent Patricia Escalante, the feedback will be implemented in future district facilities plans if they are approved in the June 2016 special election.
One proposal includes rebuilding and reopening HBCSD’s North School in hopes that it will reduce overcrowding and provide modern facilities for students, HBCSD Board President Mary Campbell said.
“I believe these plans are necessary to reduce overcrowding in the schools, which will allow for students to have more access to facilities, [and] to also create spaces and add more programs for students that create a healthy school environment with others,” Escalante said.
