The Mira Costa Associated Student Body will hold auditions for the talent show on Monday and Tuesday in the auditorium in preparation for the February 26 show.

ASB Commissioner of Publicity senior Kiera Isgrig said that students can audition with any talent they choose. Most students audition with a song or dance, either solo or in a group. Students have to complete and submit a form before scheduling a time to audition.

“I’m excited to see everyone that is performing and to see what they do outside of school,” Commissioner of Student Welfare junior Mary Clyde Bissett said. “There are so many talented people here at Costa so it’s always interesting to learn more about students’ secret talents.”

During auditions, ASB adviser Lisa Claypoole and a group of ASB members will decide which acts will be featured in the show. Isgrig said that there will be approximately 20 acts in the talent show.

“The auditions are very beneficial and important to the show because they allow us to see the acts prior and make sure that they are appropriate and enjoyable,” Bissett said. “The judges choose the auditions that are the most entertaining and what they feel the audience will want to see.”

The talent show preparation takes up to two weeks with holding the auditions and the overall organization of the show.

“Before the show, the senior class officers write their script to present each act,” Bissett said. “We also communicate with the tech people to make sure everything runs smoothly during the show.”

ASB holds the talent show as a way for the students to share their passions and talents with their fellow classmates. According to Isgrig, the performers will face a panel of teachers and staff that will judge their performance and ultimately decide a winner.

“The judges are mainly looking for creativity, talent and how enjoyable each act is when they evaluate each performer,” Bissett said.

Tickets for the talent show will go on sale a few weeks prior to the February 26 show.

“I am looking forward to seeing all the hidden talent our Mustangs have to offer,” said Isgrig. “I always love to see the hidden talents of my classmates.”
