Mira Costa’s swim defeated Palos Verdes in a Bay League meet on Thursday at home, the girls winning 126-44 and the boys winning 117-53.
Costa performed well in the medley relay with both teams placing first. The girls came in at 2:01.53 and the boys won at 1:45.34. According to senior Annika Gilboy, she is very happy with how the team is doing this year.
“We have some really fast freshman who have been competing with varsity,” Gilboy said. “They remind me that the team will continue to have dedicated members after I graduate this year.”
The girls are now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Bay League, while the boys are 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Bay League. The next meet is on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Redondo at Redondo. According to freshman Nikki Cooper, the team is looking forward to the next meet.
“I think that next week will be a really good meet for us,” Cooper said. It’s against our rival and I really do think we will win. We’re very excited.”
