Mira Costa’s boys volleyball team placed second in the Santa Barbara Tournament over the weekend, sweeping Burroughs 3-0, and losing to Loyola 3-1 in the tournament final.

Over the course of the tournament many players had their chances for success, including standout performances from senior opposite Jackson Wedbush and senior outside hitter Roy McFarland.  According to junior outside hitter Kevin Pinkerton, the team wasn’t satisfied with losing to Loyola after previously winning, but it was still a good experience.

“Obviously we would’ve liked to win, especially against an opponent like Loyola,” Pinkerton said.  “Sometimes you just have to move on though.”

Mira Costa is now 16-4 overall and 5-1 in Bay League.  According to junior libero Will Taylor, the team is just looking to continue their success in Bay League and prepare for California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

“Right now our focus should be on winning league games and focusing on preparation for CIF,” Taylor said.
