Talk about talking. Monica the medium not only talks to the living but also the dead. The Free Form reality TV show “Monica the Medium” aired on April 25 at 7 pm and is very thought-provoking, mind blowing, but not very original.

Monica Ten-Kate, a twenty two year old college student has a unique gift that she shares with the world: being able to talk to dead people. In season two of “Monica the Medium” Monica, born and raised in Pennsylvania, along with her best friend Krista Gray leave their hometown and move out here to the West Coast.

Within minutes of moving to San Diego, Monica already feels a spiritual presence. As Monica and Krista explore their new home Monica gives out readings and messages to strangers, shocking them by how much she knows.

“Monica the Medium” shows how interesting life can be for Monica Ten-Kate, by showing her balance college life, being able to speak to the dead, and having to deal with the stress that comes with moving to a new home across the country.

“Monica the Medium” keeps viewers interested throughout the entire show, due to the constant wondering about when she is going to feel a spiritual presence and who she will pass the message along to. Viewers never expect when she is going to give her next message. It could even be as unexpected like at a truckstop in the middle of nowhere.

The show and the concept of what Monica can do is completely and utterly mind blowing. It seems impossible that people are able to connect with the deceased. Though that crazy idea is reality for some people, just like Ten-Kate.

The premise of “Monica the Medium” is however somewhat unrealistic. For instance when she is telling people their message from a passed person in their lives and she knows crazy personal details about the person that she could have never known before. It often makes the viewers suspicious that she does not actually have the ability to talk to the deceased and the show is set up.

“Long Island Medium” is show on TLC that is very similar to “Monica the Medium.” Both shows feature a woman who is able to speak to the dead and gives out readings to strangers. Though the idea of “Monica the Medium” is not original it is very interesting to watch because of its eerie premise. “Long Island Medium” is an older show that premiered in 2011 and is still currently airing.

“Monica the Medium” leaves the viewers wondering who is trying to give a message and what the message could be. Ten-Kate currently does not give out any scheduled readings but she has in the past.
“Monica the Medium” is an intriguing show that never fails to excite. This is a fantastic show for the supernatural believers and or people who just really love reality TV shows.

“Monica the Medium” airs on Mondays at 7 pm on Free Form. This show is for all ages and is rated TV-14.
