Mira Costa’s boys volleyball team earned the Bay League title on Tuesday night as they defeated Redondo Union High School 3-1 in an away game in a tough environment to play in.
With scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, and 25-19, the Mustangs were able to dominate. Mira Costa was led by senior opposite Jackson Wedbush and senior outside hitter Roy McFarland. According to junior outside hitter Kevin Pinkerton it good felt to capture the Bay League title against a rival like Redondo.
“It feels good to win nine straight league games,” Pinkerton said. “It’s also a great feeling to beat Redondo in our last Bay League game.”
Mira Costa, now 22-4 overall, finished Bay League 9-1. The team will next play against Huntington Beach High School, the number one team in the nation, on Thursday at home. According to junior libero Will Taylor it will be a competitive match and good preparation for playoffs.
“It will be quite the match and it’s going to show us what we need to do for playoffs,” Taylor said.
