Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team fell to Edison High School 3-0 during its third preseason game on Tuesday, in Huntington Beach, with top performances by sophomore Memphis Glasgow and senior Amanda Montag.
Mira Costa lost all three matches, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-17. After losing the first match, the Mustangs improved their game with the help of Glasgow and Montag. According to coach Haley Lawson-Blanchard, the Mustangs’ kills allowed Costa to take the lead, 16-15, during the second set; however, Edison came back stronger.
“Lately we have been playing timid and out of sync with each other,” Glasgow said. “We could work on having more energy, self confidence, and confidence in each other.”
The team, 8-3 overall, will compete at the Durango tournament in Las Vegas on Friday. According to Glasgow, this tournament will be a good way to work on things the team is lacking on.
“I think that if we really focus in on coming together as a team and really use all of our skills, we will do great in Vegas,” Glasgow said.
