Mira Costa’s girls golf team had an away victory, 178-242, over rival Santa Monica, at Penmar Golf Course on Tuesday.
Freshman Shani Waite led the team to victory with a score of one-under par 33. According to junior Lexi Nielsen, the team played to its greatest potential.
“This is the best score as a team this season,” said Nielsen. “Everyone contributed their own piece to this win. We are very content with the way we played today.”
With an overall undefeated record of 3-0, Costa faces Santa Monica once again in a home match at Chester L. Washington Golf Course in Los Angeles on Thursday. Despite this undefeated start, Nielsen still sees room for improvement.
“Although we played well today and it was an overall good effort, we did not perform at our fullest potential,” said Nielsen. “Everyone has parts of their game to improve on and once we perfect that, we can be the best team around.”
