Mira Costa’s girls golf team emerged victorious in a tournament with over 20 teams participating at California Country Club in Whittier on Monday.
Senior Ashley Kim led the team to victory with a score of 9-under par par 65 and won the individual aspect of the tournament. She was backed up by a score of 79 from senior Lexi Nielsen. According to Nielsen, the team played well.
“I’m really happy about how we played collectively,” Nielsen said. “This course was relatively easy and we capitalized on that.”
With an overall undefeated record of 7-0 and 4-0 in Bay League, Costa next faces West Torrance in a home match Tuesday at Chester Washington Golf Course in Los Angeles, CA. Despite this undefeated start, Nielsen still sees room for improvement for the team.
“We are going to West Torrance this Tuesday to compete against West,” Nielsen said “With this match we boosted our esteem and feel we have a good chance at winning this match and winning league in a few weeks.”
