Mira Costa’s girls basketball team beat El Segundo High School, 68-33, in a preseason game on Tuesday at Mira Costa. Costa’s teamwork stayed strong throughout the game, allowing players to run more plays, and take more shots.
Costa started off strong in the first quarter, leaving El Segundo behind. During the second quarter, Costa continued to push the score forward. Costa stayed consistent throughout the third quarter. By the end, Eagles were unable to catch up, ending the game 68-33.
“Our press worked super well against el segundo, and we were unselfish which lead to a lot of assists and easy baskets,” senior Allie Navarette said.
Costa’s overall record is now 2-3. The Mustangs will play on Thursday against Fairmont Preparatory Academy at Fairmont. According to Navarette, the strategies were to continue talking to one another and encouraging each other.
“To prepare for the next game we are going to work on closing out on shooters and boxing out,” Navarette said.
