Mira Costa’s girls basketball team fell to Fairmont Preparatory Academy 62-46 on Thursday in a preseason game. The Mustangs were able to put up a good fight, but ultimately lost the game
Costa started off strong in the first half, but Fairmont began to advance in the third quarter. The two teams went back and forth in the fourth quarter until the Mustangs lost energy, ending the game 62-46.
“We played really well for the first three quarters,” sophomore small forward Nicole Matsumoto said. “We could have went up stronger and rotating better on defense.”
Costa’s overall record is now 2-4. The Mustangs will next play in the Segerstrom Holiday Tournament against Foothill next Tuesday. According to senior small forward Allie Navarette, the strategies are to continue talking to one another and encouraging each other.
“We are going to be practicing hard because we have a tournament next week coming up,” Matsumoto said.
