Mira Costa’s girls basketball team defeated Peninsula High School 44-28 during a league game on Tuesday. Costa kept its lead throughout the game and managed to beat the Panthers by 16 points.
Costa took an early lead during the first quarter. The Mustangs overpowered the Panthers during the second quarter as well. Costa’s early lead made it difficult for Peninsula to make a comeback in the second half.
“We played really well as a team,” junior Haley Herdman said. “We hustled to almost every ball and had a lot of energy.”
Costa’s is now 8-7 overall, and 1-0 in Bay League. The next game is against Palos Verdes High School in a league game on Friday.
“Our team needs to do a better job of staying engaged in the play no matter what happens,” Herdman said.”
