Mira Costa’s boys soccer team was defeated 3-0 by Palos Verdes on Friday in a home game. The loss came despite top performances from junior defender Josh Rudow and junior midfielder Alex Desousa.
The game was tied 0-0 at halftime, but the Sea Kings were able to score 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half. According to Rudow, this helped the Sea Kings gain momentum.
“It was definitely a tough game and Palos Verdes is a good team,” Rudow said. “We just really should not have given up those 2 goals right after halftime, because it is always tough to come back from such a deficit.”
The Mustangs, now 6-3-2 overall, and 0-0-1 in Bay League, will play Inglewood away on Tuesday to try and search for their first win in Bay League. According to Rudow, the team must get a win in the next game.
“I really think that we will come out with a lot of energy in the next game,” Rudow said. “We just need to start trusting each other more on the field and playing harder and I think we will start winning more.”
