Mira Costa’s Model United Nations program attended the 14th annual Surf City MUN conference on Feb. 3-4 at Huntington Beach High School.
65 Costa students attended the conference, and many students received awards on Sunday as well as a school award for outstanding large delegation. 16 Costa students received commendations, 20 received outstanding delegate awards, and nine students received gavels.
“I prepared by researching and practicing with my team,” Sophomore Chris Agliozzo said. “Researching more than others helps me to be prepared and know more about the topic.”
Costa competed against 23 other schools from Southern California and they placed second, which is better than other advanced conferences MUN has attended this year.
“All the students who went did really well at the conference,” Secretary General and senior Eliza Davis said. “We ended up finishing in second place, which is very good.”
