The Mira Costa Drama Department will host Dessert Theatre in Costa’s small theatre tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $7 at the door and attendees can enjoy desserts provided by the students. Drama students will perform all of the scenes, theatre games and Tech Olympics that they will take to the Fullerton High School Theatre Festival at Fullerton College on Friday and Saturday.
“[Dessert Theatre is] different from any of the other shows because you get to see monologues, scenes, songs, Comedy Sportz, and a musical,” freshman Tucker St. Ivany said. “It’s a fun way to see all of the talent in the Drama Department.”
High school students from around the country will compete and showcase the different aspects of their drama departments, such as their tech and competitive improv programs at Fullerton. Last year, Costa’s Drama Department won best overall musical, placed first in competitive improv and won first and second place in the festival’s Tech Olympics.
“For Dessert Theatre, we get to show people what we are taking to Fullerton,” St. Ivany said. “[It is] a fun way to see what we’re doing.”
