Mira Costa’s boys junior varsity tennis team defeated Inglewood High School on Tuesday in an away game. The top performances were from freshman Mitchell Watson and freshman Terry Wang.
Costa won every match against Inglewood with the help of Watson, Wang, and many other Costa players. Costa and Inglewood did not keep scores due to the extreme difference in skill level between them.
“We had a lot of good sportsmanship in that we played very nicely against the new and learning team,” Watson.
The Mustangs, 9-1 overall and 2-0 in Bay League, will next play Peninsula High School away on Wednesday in a makeup game. According to sophomore varsity player Matthew Poh, Peninsula is one of the team’s biggest rivals and is number two in CIF so the game will be tough.
“In order to compete with them, everyone is going to have to fight for every point and play smart tennis,” Poh said.
