Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated Peninsula at an away game on Wednesday. Top performances came from senior center fielder CJ Shapiro and sophomore pitcher Christian Bodlovich.
Bodlovich pitched for six innings and had six strikeouts. Costa started the game strong and battled throughout, scoring six runs in the fifth inning. The team came away with double digits as they enter into Bay League.
“Today both our offense and defense was solid,” Shapiro said. “Though the most important part of the team today was the dugout and our enthusiasm throughout the game.”
The Mustangs, now 9-4 overall, will play Peninsula at a home game on Friday. They need to keep the same mentality going into the second league game against Peninsula said Bodlovich.
“I think the team played really well yesterday,” Bodlovich said. “We swung the bats and put up 13 runs against a good team.”
